Developer money should have no place in municipal campaigns, says Waterloo mayoral candidate Dorothy McCabe

WATERLOO, ON — Waterloo mayoral incumbent, Dorothy McCabe, reaffirms her campaign’s commitment to decline donations from members of the development community.

“In 2022 I made a promise to the people of Waterloo that I would not request nor accept donations from developers for my campaign. I am proud to make that commitment again for this campaign,” she said. “Trust and transparency are central to democracy. Residents of Waterloo deserve to feel confident that decisions on planning and zoning are free of outside influence.”

The development sector plays an important role in our community. They build the homes and communities we live in, they donate to numerous charitable activities and they work with elected officials and staff at city hall. That is why these important community partnerships must remain free of real or perceived conflicts of interest.

Residents deserve to know that, while McCabe works with the development community as part of her role as Mayor, she continues to have no conflicts of interest.
